What is the WiSo entrance exam?

The Aufnahmeprüfung is part of WU’s admission procedure (Aufnahmeverfahren) for the WiSo bachelor. There are more applicants than places, so places are awarded based on exam results. In 2026, about 6,370 people applied for 2,703 places, and the cut-off was around 89 points.

Format

• Duration: 2 hours, no break.
• All questions are multiple choice.
• Held once a year, in person, at Messe Wien – there is no alternative date.
• The exam is in German.

The three parts

• Economics basics – questions are based on WU’s official study script “Wirtschaft verstehen”.
• German reading comprehension – an economics text at roughly B2–C1 level.
• Mathematics – multiple choice, no written working required.

How to apply, step by step

1. Register online on the WU website.
2. Complete the Online Self-Assessment (OSA) fully and on time.
3. Pay the service fee – €50 in 2026, non-refundable.
4. Sit the entrance exam in person.
5. Get your result by email and in the registration form.
